What moves the price
- Whether the valleys, drip edge and step flashing are being replaced or reused
- How much decking turns out to be soft once the covering is stripped
- How many old layers have to come off before the new one goes on
- Ventilation work, if the old roof was cooking itself from underneath
- Pitch — anything over about 7:12 needs staging and slows a crew down

Questions about price
Is moss on the roof a problem?
Yes, eventually. Moss holds water against the shingle and lifts the edges as it thickens. Zinc or copper strip at the ridge suppresses it. Pressure washing an asphalt roof strips the granules and does more harm than the moss did.
What happens to my information?
It goes to a maximum of three roofing contractors working in La Palma, and to nobody else. We do not sell it as a mailing list and we do not post it anywhere public. Our privacy policy sets out exactly what is shared.
Why three quotes and not one?
